The finalists for this year's Audie Awards have been announced! In case you have no idea why that news has me doing a crazy happy dance in the corner, then the Audie Awards are sort of like the Oscars for audiobooks. Except with less paparazzi and no red carpet. But the Audies have a teen category, so it's even better than the Oscars! The Audio Publishers Association sponsors the Audies to recognise "distinction in audiobooks and spoken word entertainment" which they thought sounded more dignified than "we dare you to try to hit pause once you start these audiobooks."
AudioFile has very helpfully compiled a list of all the finalists. If you don't feel like scrolling through the very long list to find the teen titles, there is a list of categories on the right hand side of the page, so you can skip straight to the teen section. Don't limit yourself to just looking at the teen category though. There are teen titles scattered throughout, including Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor in the fantasy category, and Neal Shusterman's Bruiser, which is up for an Audie for Multi-Voiced Performance. And since AudioFile loves to be helpful, they've included a link to their review for each nominee. You will need to get a web pass and log in to read the review, but getting a web pass is free and easy to do.

Thanks for posting this! I've listened to all the YA titles except Bruiser, but it's on my list! The other lists will keep me busy for awhile. Did you have a favourite?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've listened to any on the list, much as it shames me to admit it. :( I've fallen behind on audiobooks lately. I am currently listening to the first Jacky Faber audiobook and loving it, though. Katherine Kellgren is an awesome narrator.
ReplyDeleteIf you like that (I'm a Jackie Faber fan too) you should give a listen to Blackout by Connie Willis- also narrated by Kellgren. It's about historians who time travel to important historical events to study how things went down firsthand. I gather there's a twist in there somewhere (I've just started reading it), but so far it's been fun!
ReplyDeleteOooh! Cool. I read To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis and adored it. I'll have to hunt down that audiobook. Thanks for the suggestion!
