In the town of El Rosario lived Mr. Mendoza, the self described Graffiti King of All Mexico. His paintbrush delivered justice, poked holes in people's conceits, and generally scandalised the town. Always mysterious and unpredictable, Mr. Mendoza delivered his biggest surprise after declaring, "My work is finished!"
The story is told through the eyes of a man reminiscing on his childhood in El Rosario, and his run-ins with Mr. Mendoza.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have read this year. The language is lyrical and transports you to a place where mummified monks emerge from crumbling walls once a year, and miracles can happen.
