Last month we had fun making origami shurikens in anime club. It's a cheap craft. If you don't have origami paper, just use coloured printer paper. You'll need to make the printer paper into a perfect square for this to work. Here are instructions in case you're having a brain dead moment.
Lucky for me, one of the older teens was an expert at this, as I am terrible at origami. She taught the rest of us how to fold shurikens. It's pretty easy to do out if you've got good instructions, and there are plenty available online. These are the clearest step-by-step instructions I've found, if you are looking for some to print out. There are also plenty of instructional videos on Youtube including the one below.
The points are sharp, so watch where you aim these; they fly pretty well. None of us could throw, so we never hit our targets, which was probably a good thing. If you're feeling brave and you can find a fencing mask, you could always volunteer to be the bullseye.
