Spotlight on: CLAMP
One of the most popular and prolific mangaka is actually a group of four women known as CLAMP. They are very versitile, and have written for all ages (kids to adults), both genders, and in a variety of genres, although most of their works contain an element of fantasy. Because they are a group of four, they are able to vary who does the main artwork according to whose style fits the story best.
Although not all of their works are written for teens, the ones who discover CLAMP often read all their manga, regardless of target age. CLAMP has a habbit of reusing characters (but with different identities) from previous series in later series, which lends a sort of continuity. This may partially explain some of the crossover, because readers can always hope for a glimpse of their favourite characters in whichever series they are reading. Some of CLAMP's teen titles are Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, Xxxholic (it's not xxx rated, despite the title), and their newest series released in North America, Gate 7. Chobits is also popular with teen girls, who enjoy the cute characters, fancy outfits, and romance, despite the fact that the series is seinan (see Manga for Beginners page for definition). Like many seinan titles, it contains frequent nudity and sexual references.
