Flower in a Storm by Shigeyoshi Takagi

All Riko Kunimi wants is to be a normal girl, but it's getting harder to pretend she's normal ever since the day Ran, Japan's richest 17 year old, burst through her classroom window and proposed to her. Now her days are filled with avoiding Ran's attempts to woo her and the assassins coming after him. Riko may want to be normal, but being unusual just might save her life and bring her love.

This is a fun, action packed series. Even though Riko wants to be like everyone else, Ran loves that she's strong and different. In between all the romance and dodging bullets is a story about accepting yourself and not trying to hide what makes you different.

At only two volumes, this is a short series, which is great if your library's budget is tight. Each volume contains a stand-alone short story. The short story in volume 2, about a guy who falls for his teacher, is creepy, but the series is worth getting despite that.

Rated T+  for older teens by the publisher, although I would feel comfortable handing this to a younger teen. Suggest to anyone who likes action and humour in with their shojo.
