Say Anything - a boardgame

While Apples to Apples is still popular with teens, we've played it so many times over the years at anime club that everyone is tired of it. Whenever it's time for something new, I head down to an awesome game store in Surrey called Craving for a Game. The staff there always have time to explain how to play a game and help you find something to suit your taste in games. You can order from them online, but if you live in the Lower Mainland, it's worth going there in person to take advantage of the phenomenal customer service.

Say Anything is similar enough to Apples to Apples that my anime club picked it up quickly, but different enough to feel completely new. Instead of green and red cards, the judge for the round picks a question off a card and everyone writes their answer down on a mini whiteboard. Once everyone's answered, people vote on which answer they think the judge picked. Points are awarded if the judge picked your answer, if people voted for you, or if you voted for the correct answer.

It's recommended for ages 13+, though I've played it with 12 year olds who managed it no problem. Since it's for 3-8 players, you can use it even if you accidentally plan your anime club meeting for the same day as a local con and almost no one shows up. You'd think I'd have learned after all these times.
