Neil hates his hometown, Americus. The only thing that makes life bearable is his best friend, Danny, and their favourite fantasy series, The Adventures of Apathea Ravenchilde. When Danny's mom finds out her son is reading fantasy novels, she sends him off to military school and begins a campaign to ban the books from the local library.
Neil finds an ally in the teen librarian, but if he wants to save his favourite books, he's going to have to come out of his shell and make a stand. Too bad he's so shy.
Suggest to any of your rabid teen readers, particularly if they love fantasy, and to teens you know who are struggling to make friends or are dealing with bullying. They'll appreciate Neil's own struggles and the hopeful ending.
